Why it matters in Utah
Utah winters are hard on boats.
Utah's high-desert climate swings from warm lake days to hard freezes fast. Any water left in your engine block, manifolds, outdrive, ballast tanks or plumbing expands as it freezes — and that's how blocks crack, hoses split and drives fail.
Fuel left untreated over a long Utah winter breaks down and gums up injectors and carburetors, while moisture and condensation attack internal engine parts. A proper winterization protects all of it — and freeze damage from skipped winterization is a costly repair that's rarely covered.

Benefits
Why winterization pays off.
- 01
Prevents freeze damage
Water is removed or replaced with antifreeze so nothing can expand and crack.
- 02
Protects the fuel system
Stabilized fuel stays fresh all winter — no varnish, no clogged injectors.
- 03
Stops internal corrosion
Fogging and fresh oil protect cylinders, bearings and internal parts from rust.
- 04
Catches problems early
We inspect the engine, drive and props so repairs happen in winter, not on opening day.
- 05
Easy spring start-up
A properly winterized boat is quicker and cheaper to summerize when the lakes open.
- 06
Protects your warranty & resale
Documented professional maintenance keeps your boat — and its value — in top shape.

Winterization FAQ
Winterization in Utah, answered.
When should I winterize my boat in Utah?
Before the first hard freeze. In Utah County that's usually between late October and mid-November, and Salt Lake City's average first freeze is around October 19. We recommend booking in September or early October and bringing your boat in right after your last ride.
How much does boat winterization cost in Utah County?
It depends on the engine type (outboard, sterndrive or inboard), the number of engines and extra systems like ballast tanks, heaters and showers. Call us at (801) 785-7878 or send the form and we'll give you a clear quote before any work starts.
Do you winterize wake and surf boats with ballast tanks?
Yes. Ballast tanks, bags, pumps, heaters and showers all hold water that can freeze and crack. We drain and protect every system on wake and surf boats, including Varatti, Malibu, MasterCraft, Nautique and more.
What happens if I don't winterize my boat?
Water left in the engine, manifolds or drive can freeze, expand and crack metal parts, while untreated fuel degrades and moisture causes internal corrosion. Freeze damage often means expensive repairs that insurance rarely covers.
Can I keep using my boat after it's winterized?
Running the engine after winterization can push antifreeze out and let water back in. If you want a late-season ride, tell us and we'll schedule your winterization after it.
Do you offer shrink wrap and storage too?
Yes. Most customers bundle winterization with custom shrink wrapping and secure storage at our Orem location ($150/month), then add spring summerization.
Which areas do you serve?
Boaters bring their boats to our Orem shop from all over Utah County and beyond — Provo, Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Springville, Spanish Fork, Saratoga Springs, Salt Lake City, Heber and Park City.
